The PowerFULL Remnant
And
Jesus said unto him, If thou
canst believe,
all things are possible to him that believeth. Mark 9:23
This I say then,
Walk in the Spirit, and
ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
And they that are Christ's
have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. Galatians
5:16, 24
Forasmuch
then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh,
arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath
suffered in the flesh hath ceased
from sin; 1 Peter 4:1
Wherefore lay
apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word,
which is able to save your souls. James 1:21
Know ye not,
that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his
death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as
Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father,
even so we also should walk in
newness of life. Romans 6:3, 4
For not the hearers of the law are just
before God, but the
doers of the law shall be
justified. Romans 2:13
And be not conformed
to this world:
but
be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Romans 12:2
Casting down imaginations,
and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and
bringing into captivity
every thought to the obedience of Christ; 2 Corinthians 10:5
And the Lord shall deliver me
from every evil work,
and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory
for ever and ever 2 Timothy 4:18
Now thanks be unto God,
which always
causeth us to
triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the Savior of his
knowledge by us in every place. 2 Corinthians 2:14
I can do all things through Christ
which strengtheneth me.
Phillipians 4:13
Awake to righteousness,
and sin not…1
Corinthians 15:34
There hath no temptation taken you
but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be
tempted above that ye are able;
but will with the temptation also make
a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear
it. 1 Corinthians 10:13
It is only through divine grace
that we can
overcome the defects in our character; The Signs of the Times,
June 5, 1884
If
we would permit our minds to dwell more upon Christ
and the heavenly world.
We should find a powerful stimulus and
support in our warfare against sin.
The Signs of the Times, June 19, 1884
The
very ones whom God purposes to use as His
instruments for a special work, Satan employs his utmost power to lead astray.
He attacks us at our weak points, working through defects in the character to
gain control of the whole man; and he knows that if these defects are cherished,
he will succeed.
But none need be overcome.
Man
is not left alone to conquer the power of evil by
his own feeble efforts.
Help is at hand and will be given to every soul who really
desires it. Angels of God, that ascend and descend the ladder which Jacob saw in
vision, will help every soul who will, to climb even to the highest heaven.
Patriarchs and Prophets, page 568
Go to God and
often plead with Him for
strength.
It will
be given. Youth’s
Instructor, Page 37
The principals of the Gospel should have a controlling
power over us, that we may have the mind that was
in Christ, and be pure as he was pure.
Review and Herald, Vol. II, Page 406
He can, and
will if we
submit to Him, fill the chambers of the mind and the recesses of
the soul with His spirit. Then our
will is in perfect harmony with the divine will. Our spirit may be so identified
with His spirit that in thought and aim
we shall be one with Him.
Youth’s Instructor, Page 420
He would sooner send every angel
out of heaven
to
protect His people, than leave one soul that trusts in Him to be
overcome by Satan. Great
Controversy, Page 560
We must grasp in confidence
the rich promises of God,
Then we shall be overcomers. Signs of the Times, Vol. IV, Page
143
The surrender must be complete.
Every weak, doubting, struggling soul who yields fully to the Lord, is
place in direct touch with agencies that enable him to overcome.
Heaven is near to him, and he has the support
and help of angels of mercy in every trial and need.
Acts of the Apostles, Page 299
The soul must be barricaded by prayer
and the study of the scriptures.
Armed with these weapons, Jesus encountered the wiley for on the field of
battle, and overcame him. We may conquer in His
strength; but it will not answer for us to suppose that we
can dispense with His help. He
says, “without me, you can do nothing.”

The PowerLESS Satan
Submit
yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and
he will flee
from you. James 4:7
Neither
give place to the devil. Ephesians
4:27
Casting
all your care upon him;
for he careth for you. 1 Peter 5:7
I
have written unto you, fathers,
because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you,
young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and
ye have
overcome the wicked one.
1 John 2:14
For
whatsoever is born of God overcometh
the world: and this is the victory that overcometh
the world, even our faith.
1 John 5:4
Ye
are of God, little children, and have
overcome them: because
greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 1
John 4:4
Who
are kept by the power of God through
faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the
last time. Revelation 1:5
The
Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly
out of
temptations,
and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished 2 Peter 2:9
Because thou hast kept the word
of my patience,
I also will
keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all
the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. Revelation 3:10
Put on the whole armor of God,
that ye may be
able to
stand
against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11
Satan cannot hold the dead in his grasp
when the Son of God bids them live.
He cannot hold in spiritual death one soul who
in
faith receives Christ's word of power. God is saying to all who
are dead in sin, "Awake
thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead." Ephesians 5:14, The
Desire of Ages, page 320
Today Satan presents the same temptations
that he presented to Christ, offering us the kingdoms of the world in return for
our allegiance. But upon him who looks to Jesus as the author and finisher of
his faith,
Satan's temptations have no power. He cannot cause to sin the one
who will accept by faith the virtues of Him who was tempted in all points as we
are, yet without sin. Selected Messages Book 1, page 224
None but Christ can fashion anew the character
that has been ruined by sin. He came to expel the demons that had controlled the
will. He came
to lift us up from the dust, to reshape the marred character
after the pattern of His divine character, and to make it beautiful with His own
glory. The Desire of Ages, page 37
There is no power
in the whole
satanic force that can disable the soul that trusts, in simple
confidence, in the wisdom that comes from God. The Youth's Instructor, December
15, 1898
Those who are earnestly seeking
a knowledge of the truth, and are striving to purify their souls through
obedience, thus doing what they can to prepare for the conflict, will find, in
the God of truth, a sure defense. "Because thou hast kept the word of my
patience, I also will keep thee," 1 Revelation. 3:10 is the Saviour's promise.
He would
sooner send every angel out of Heaven to protect his people, than leave one soul
that trusts in him to be overcome by Satan. The Great Controversy
[1888 edition], page 560
Satan is constantly at work,
but few have any idea of his activity and subtlety. The people of God must be
prepared to withstand the wily foe. It is this resistance that Satan dreads. He
knows better than we do the limit of his power and how easily he can be overcome
if we resist and face him.
Through divine strength the weakest saint is more
than a match for him and all his angels, and if brought to the
test he would be able to prove his superior power.
Therefore Satan's step is
noiseless, his movements stealthy, and his batteries masked. He does not venture
to show himself openly, lest he arouse the Christian's dormant energies and send
him to God in prayer. Testimonies for the Church Volume Five, page 293
In the whole Satanic force there is not power
to overcome one soul who in simple trust casts himself on Christ. "He gift power
to the faint; and to them that have no might He increaseth
strength." Isaiah. 40:29. Christ's Object Lessons, page 157
Neither wicked men nor devils can hinder the
work of God,
or shut out His presence from His people, if they will, with subdued, contrite
hearts, confess and put away their sins, and in faith claim His promises.
Every temptation, every opposing influence, whether open or
secret, may be successfully resisted, "not
by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts." Zechariah
4:6. The Great Controversy, page 529
